My InterpretationThis is either Manson's confession or his exposee on the Hollywood child trafficking (see Pizzagate and Adrenochrome in Hollywood). (Please aee future posts for my explanation of how "being in a state of reversal, is a main theme within this song, the origin of the saturnalia, along with whatever other words I may come up with lol) Just Google Satan and Saturn and you will be overwhelmed with the information provided about Satan's association with Saturn throughout history, which is very interesting. The Saturs and their leader Pan are also known as "Goat-gods". Also, Satur is the goat-legged half man half goat 'deity' headed by Pan (a representation of satan) sometimes spelt 'satyr' in English.The Oxford dictionary identifies it as 'Saturos' in Greek. Satan and Saturn are literally the same word. But of course Satan's association with Saturn in most cases is symbolic, myth, and allegory.Ī few notes on Satans association with saturn. The concept of Satan within the song, Saturnalia, is implied via Satan's association with Saturn throughout history, within both myth and various religions. The song is adherent and ties into to the overall main themes that span the entire album, two of which are Satan (The album was set to be titled Say10, but was later changed to heaven upside down) the title, Heaven upside down, first and foremost, is indicative of another strong theme that runs throughout the album - that of being in a state of reversal, backward, or, obviously, upside down. By putting himself in Saturn's position, he is, once again, portraying himself (or the character within the story) as one of the many incarnations of Satan.Īs much of Manson work, this song can be interpreted in many ways and has many layers and comcepts of meaning ranging from simplicity to the most complex.Ī good place to start is researching into what is the saturnalia, why and how it originated, and the significance of Saturn. In the song Manson sings "I was invited to eat the young", putting himself in Saturn's (the fathers) position.
But ultimately, the song definitely ties into his relatiinship with his father and his fathers passing, after the fact. His father had not passed away when the song was written and Manson has said that he really did not know just how sick his father was. In the deafening void of our last I can see where you draw the father son connection (Saturn ate his son(s), I do not think this song was specifically written about his father.
